Pulmonary consult includes detailed history taking as regarding the various cardinal symptoms of chest diseases and narrowing down the differentials. Further focussed testing may be required to pin point the exact diagnosis and its management. Also pre operative pulmonary consult may be required to evaluate the risk of post operative complications and to reverse any reversible factor before any elective procedure.
